It's
correct to say that Ljubljana was
almost completely built by Jože Plečnik. Slovenia's most eminent architect
started his career in Vienna, then followed
more then ten years of very successful work in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Plečnik
returned to his native city as a world-renowned architect and immediately received
from local authorities a carte blanche for almost anyone of his
projects.
As a result the capital of Slovenia changed from a provincial remote
place into a pearl of world architecture.![]() 1. Secession Dragon Bridge is one of the main symbols of Ljubljana. ![]() 2. Market place in Ljubljana. ![]() 3.
