Battle of Grunwald
Story shot in July 2009
One of the most important battles in the history of Medieval Europe took place on July 15, 1410, near the town of Grunwald in Northern Poland. In the Battle of Grunwald also known as the Battle of Tannenberg the united army of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, led by the Polish king Władysław II Jagiełło, defeated totally the 'invincible' knights of the Teutonic Order. As a result the Teutonic Order lost its position in the region forever and almost ceased to exist. Every summer thousands of devotees of military history from different countries arrive to the battlefield of Grunwald and try to reconstruct an atmosphere of those days. In 2010 they celebrated the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald.
